me, back

First up, thank you so much for all your very wonderful comments in my last post! i really appreciate all your words of encouragement. altho it's getting so much harder to lose the weight now, but i guess the word is "soldier on"! and weight is not everything ... at my age, being healthy is the key.

alrighty!! now back to some work that i've been up to prior to the last post. made a pair of rather simple earrings called Seedling.

Galadriel said in the Lord of the Rings, "even the smallest person can change the course of the future". well, i say, "even the smallest of seedling may one day feed a thousand people"

i also made another book necklace, the Lady.

inspired by one of my favourite classics, Wuthering Heights, this came out of a excerpt by Heathcliff : "Catherine Earnshaw, may you not rest as long as I am living. You said I killed you--haunt me then. The murdered do haunt their murderers. I believe--I know that ghosts have wandered the earth. Be with me always--take any form--drive me mad. Only do not leave me in this abyss, where I cannot find you! Oh, God! It is unutterable! I cannot live without my life! I cannot live without my soul!"

this guy must be one of the most tormented and demented antiheroes ever written, but you can't really not love him for the undying (albeit sadistic) love he and Catherine both shared.

this next piece was the result of failed inspiration for a book commission :( i got so frustrated with thinking about the cover design one day, i thought i would just take a break. started meddling with some scrap metal on the table and before i knew it ...

well well, what do you know ... one door closes, another opens. but in this case ... when all the doors are closed, i say, use the DAMN KEY!! :)

so what do you do when your inspiration dries out, or is focused somewhere else and not at the place you want it to be?

i saw this on Pinterest, the wise words of a master. i laughed becos he is so frickin direct, but you know what ... he is SO frickin right!!

  2. I just so admire all these beauties you do. They all have such a soul. I totally agree with the quote at the end. The more you do the more it just seems to come or at least sparks a thought for later. We just can't force it and if i do .... It shows!

    That's one of my favorite quotes from Wuthering Heights too! I just watched the movie version of that 2 days ago (with Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche)... one of my favorite books of all time!

  8. I absolutely love your new jewellery pieces! The advice is so dead on. I often sit down at my workbench and think....now what??? So if I have no big idea or direction I start with something small or simple that I don't have to think a lot about and then suddenly the ideas will roll in. Of course...I still have those times when you just sit staring at the materials or blank page and think...what to do what to do....lol.

  11. L- have to agree with others - a great quote - and isn't it so true the process can often produce great and new work. Love how the shelter and key piece so reflects the quote. And the seedling earrings are so full of fun and texture. Continue to create and make us smile. B

  12. Loving the little winged box and your earrings too. Hoping your inspiration is released but it is so hard when you have a family to run and also with all your doing with your healthy weight loss program, we just have to split ourselves up in so many ways that sometimes inspiration just isnt there!! But its right inspiration can come from direct work and playtime too!!!

  13. Dear Luthien, the book is beautiful and I love the necklace. You are so. It is so true that quite often one door closes and the other opens; I always have numerous projects started, laying around; stuck with ideas and they usualy end up in something complitely different than I originaly wanted or imagined.
    And great work with loosing weight, I am on the same track as well killing myself in gym but layers of fat have to go.

  15. Oh my....loving the earrings and the necklace really speaks to me...Wuthering Heights is my favorite Gothic romance. And how cool did the "door" piece turn out?? You're amazing.

    I have that quote in my Pinterest board, too - it is SO TRUE. More often than not, just sitting at the work table and playing with things yields amazing results.

  16. thank you all for your wonderful comments! looks like i'm not the only one who loves Wuthering Heights. i used to read this classic at pre-university Literature and even analyzed every aspect of it. One would have thought i'll be so bored of it by now. Anyone's seen the BBC version of it by Tom Hardy as Heathcliff. caught a glimpse of it on YouTube, man ... i so love Tom Hardy as Heathcliff!

    anyhow, hope you all have a great weekend. It's the holiday season here as the Muslims are celebrating their Hari Raya. schools close today and the little one will be on a 11 day break ((O_O)) yea ... 11 days!!! we do get a LOT of holidays here :)
